Tom + Katelyn | Backyard Summer Wedding
Tom + Katelyn had the most gorgeous backyard summer wedding.
They tied the knot at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple in South Jordan, Utah followed by a luncheon reception at Wadley Farms. Their full day wedding extravaganza ended at Tom’s grandparents house leading to the perfect backyard reception. But, I’m getting ahead of myself. Let me introduce these two love birds!
Tom and Katelyn are two madly in love individuals.
They first met here in Utah at a singles ward valley ball game. Pretty quick after Tom laid eyes on Katelyn he asked her on their first date. He decided to take her to dance lessons because he thought it would be a fun way to let loose. At their wedding, they reminisced on that first date and how awkward it was because the instructor told everyone to stare into their partner’s eyes for ONE WHOLE MINUTE!! How intense for a first date! But, it worked! They started falling for each other after that night.
After a few short months of dating, Tom decided he was going to purpose.
He knew Katelyn was the one. He had it all planned out to reenact their first date. When Tom planned this whole night to go back to the dance lessons and have the instructor play their song and he would propose. Katelyn had a feeling that he was going to pop the big million dollar question. But, unfortunately the ring got lost in the mail and wasn’t going to arrive till the following week. For an entire week Katelyn had a feeling it was coming so she kept spending the time getting ready and looking nice for when the big moment came.
Well, fast forward to when Tom actually got the ring in the mail.
They were hanging out at Katelyn’s house watching the Olympics on TV. Tom kept trying to convince Katelyn to go on a walk with him to the temple but she kept digging in her heels because she was in sweats, it was cold out, and she wanted to spend time with her family because her mom was about to leave town. Well, eventually she gave in, and Tom and her went walking around the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. Little did she know that this walk was going to be that big moment! Tom got down on one knee and sure enough Katelyn said YES!
Months of wedding planning commenced, and in June Katelyn and Tom committed themselves to each other at the very same temple they were engaged at. Their wedding day went flawless. Katelyn adorned herself with the most beautiful jeweled crown and a long flowing veil. And Tom looked dapper as ever.
They shared their entire wedding day with their family and friends.
They had the most gorgeous luncheon at Wadley Farms followed by a beautiful background reception at Tom’s grandparents’ house. My favorite part besides their STUNNING cake? The crepe bar they had for their guests. YUM! Their reception was accompanied by live piano music played by Tom and Katelyn’s siblings, followed with swing dancing for their first dances. Their friends and family came near and far and eventually sent the happy couple on their way with a grand sparkler exit down the drive way.
